Foursquare - The Collapse of Verb

To Google something is to search something on the net, probably on Google. To Skype someone is to call them using Skype. For a brand to become a verb is probably one of the best signs of their success.

For a while, you could Foursquare. It meant to check in, but sadly they couldn't find a way to monetise. This article shows a very interesting chart depicting the death of the verb 'to Foursquare'.

In May 2014 Foursquare removed check-ins and transformed the app into a lesser imitation of Yelp (using the accumulated reviews from Foursquare's loyal audience.)
