Irony, it seems, is central to European policy making.
I decided to do some research on the effects of The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on newsletter marketing. My first search request is linked below. "Newsletters and GDPR" it seems returns a very large number of newsletters about the regulation. I assume all off these will be wonderfully opt-in only and easy to unsubscribe from but it did strike me rather amusing that one of the first effects of the new law (to be introduced next year) is to create yet more email marketing materials.
