It is not just the role, pay, conditions and culture that attracts people to work for an organisation. It is also the environment of the place they get to live in as well.

What people want will vary depending on their stage in life, personal commitments etc but if a city, such as London, isn't nice to live in then companies will not be able to attract staff.

Cities across the country will be compared with one another and increasingly cities across the world are compared as well.

London has, so far, done well but if issues such as air quality, the availability of housing and connectivity are not addressed then will that continue?

A location needs to be both a nice place to live and work if it is to be socially and economically successful.
