Adding to my series of mild rants about 'it's not about you', this great article from Moz puts things into perspective for the SEO-minded.
You content is only good if it answers the user's question, if it's useful to the reader.
The user, is therefore the most important factor in getting your SEO ranking up.
Here's the full rant on why I'm the biggest problem with your website: http://insights.babelquest.co.uk/post/102d4un/its-not-you-its-me-im-the-reason-your-website-sucks
Remember to go into the Moz article below for the SEO deep dive too.
“Content is king.” Bull hockey. The king doesn’t rule jack squat. A truer statement is this: If content is king, then the user is queen, and she rules the universe. Let’s say that again, because this is important. “The user is queen, and she rules the universe.” Google only cares about your content inasmuch as it answers the user’s search query. Search results are not a collection of “good” content; they are a ranked list of content that best satisfies what the user is looking for.
