Start something new: It is never too late

For many people lockdown has been a catalyst to start something new or pick up positive habits. Baking, learning, exercising, quizzing, DIY. The list goes on and on. After the first easing of lockdown restrictions, I decided to give golf a try as it was one of the few sports available to play. Since starting golf a few months ago I have absolutely loved playing and play at least twice a week. I now can't imagine not playing on a regular basis.

However, if it wasn't for lockdown, would I have started playing? The answer is probably not and I believe this is true for a lot of people who have recently picked up a new hobby. I always thought I would play golf at some point but put it aside for the future as I believed I would have more time and would be more dedicated. Of course, working from home has allowed me more time to play but in reality, even when commuting to work, I would have been able to fit it into my schedule.

I had also previously not been confident enough to start playing because I was worried I would be awful. Anyone who has played golf will understand the fear of teeing off on the first hole in front of a crowd.

I found this especially daunting as a woman playing in quite a male-dominated sport. However, over the period of a few months, I have hugely improved and I am now so glad I started when I did.

I love the following quote from Mind Fuel Daily:

"Dwell not on the past, and not on the future, but only in what we can accomplish and begin in this moment – then, much later, we can see just how important those beginnings were."

It is never too late to start something new, whether that is in your personal life or in business (e.g. writing content). The rewards will be so much greater in the future if you start now instead of putting it off.

It is important to take one day at a time and do not think too far ahead. At the moment I am just trying to get out of bunkers (see image).
