We have done a bunch of research in to the number of 'knowledge pieces' that Professional Service firms produce (see the 200.passle.net).

The graph below is for the number of posts per year for Venture Capital firm Accel. You can be in no doubt that they are taking their content strategy very seriously. They are on course to produce 50 or so pieces in 2014. A remarkable increase from 3 or 4 in 2012.

But even 50 pieces, when you have 48 investment professionals in four locations across at least four very broad sectors (Infrastructure, Internet & Consumer, Services Mobile Software & Cloud-Enabled Services), really demonstrates very little niche expertise.
