Why LinkedIn's Upcoming 'Discover' Feature Could be a Game-Changer for Thought Leaders

A brand-new LinkedIn feature, designed to help you discover relevant individuals and valuable content from outside your network of connections, is being trialled amongst a small group of individuals in the US.

According to Blake Barns, VP of Product at LinkedIn, the levels of engagement in content that contains relevant, helpful knowledge has doubled over the last 12 months, with many users turning to the search function to find valuable content outside of their network. As a result, the new 'Discover' area of the platform will aim to give users a space to find useful content that they might otherwise miss.

This new feature means that for thought leaders creating authentic and genuinely helpful content, there could be a significant opportunity to increase the reach of your content and unlock a new audience outside of your network.

So whilst the feature may be in the early days of testing, keep your eyes peeled for it to be released so your thought leaders can capitalise on the opportunity!

People you know are incredible resources to help you in your career, and in the last year, we’ve seen a 2X increase in people engaging in posts that share helpful knowledge, ideas, and advice. We've also seen that many of you are using content search to discover knowledge beyond your network on the topics you care about.
