GDPR - Make sure you don't get stung!

From May next year, we will all be obligated to follow the rules set out in the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It has been a discussion point at many events that I've recently been to and everyone is a little sceptical about what the new rules will prohibit.

Telephone and email marketing are a huge part of any company's sales agenda, but if everyone we contact needs to have opted in, that could pose some problems! 

Definitely worth checking that you are compliant should the audit teams come knocking!

After over four years of discussion, the new EU data protection framework has finally been adopted. It takes the form of a Regulation – the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The GDPR will replace the current Directive and will be directly applicable in all Member States without the need for implementing national legislation. It will not apply until 25 May 2018. However, as it contains some onerous obligations, many of which will take time to prepare for, it will have an immediate impact.
