What's in a word?

Choice of language can be so powerful that sometimes, the response to a statement or question will have been determined mid sentence based on a single word, before the listener has even had a chance to absorb the entire sentence. 

Words such as just, I'll try, totally and I think can diminish the impact of a sentence. 

Just undermine your authority. Whatever you do, (just) avoid using it where possible.

Using the phrase I'll try can suggest that you are not confident in your abilities. Try to reframe your language, if you aren't sure you've got the time, change your language to realign someone's expectations. 

Using superfluous describing words such as totally are not necessary and sometimes more words can undermine your message. Have the confidence that sometimes, less words is more.

runs the risk of implying that you aren't willing to commit to the statement you are making, implying doubt in yourself. Sharing your opinion without hesitation helps to command respect. 

Consider your choice of words. Language has the power to command respect and feel a sense of empowerment. 

Some of the most powerful words are the words you use every day. These words can easily and unknowingly diminish your message and intent.
