LinkedIn QR code makes it easy to connect at events

At events and conferences, it can be annoying when you chat with someone who you would like to connect with or follow up with but they (or you) have forgotten your business cards.

One easy way to ensure you do not lose the opportunity to connect is to use the QR code function on LinkedIn App.  I have found most people have the app and it is far easier than searching for a name.  This functionality has been around for a long time but still, lots of people do not know about it so it is kind of neat to introduce people to a new thing.

If you do not have the 2 mins for the video check out below:

Open the LinkedIn app and look for 4 little squares top right next to search.  Click them:

This will open a screen that asks you to give permission to use the phone's camera.  Accept.  You will then see the camera activated.  Then simply scan the QR code opened on your new contact's phone.  It will take you to the connection page of your new contact where you can LinkIn.  In this case, I LinkedIn with my colleague Freddy.  As you can see from the screen grabs below it is very easy to use the camera to scan the QR code.

Finally, you can also share anytime and anywhere (for example in a blog).  Here is my LinkedIn QR code.  Feel free to connect:

LinkedIn have made it really easy to share details with other people using their app. In this short video I will show you how to connect with other people, face to face in the real world! The LinkedIn app now has 2 great features, an onscreen QR cote that can be copied easily by others, and a camera function to capture those codes and directly connect with people you meet. Finally the online networking tool has an application in the face to face networking space!
